Thailand Stock Exchange Aims to Launch Digital Asset Exchange in 2020
[ChainDD report] March 14 (ChainDD) The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) unveiled its three-year plan, with the aim to launch a digital asset exchange in 2020. It will closely work with stakeholders to draw out a roadmap for development of the exchange, according to fintech media Finextra.
SET said it will also finish complete digitalization of its infrastructure, such as paperless account opening through electronic identification verification. SET’s CEO Pakorn Peetathawatchai expected enhancing the existing infrastructure and building a new digital asset ecosystem will take the Thailand capital market to the next level.
ChainDD’s previous news said Pattera Dilkungthirapop, vice chairwoman of SET, revealed in January, 2019 that SET plans to apply for a digital asset business license with the Finance Ministry. If SET implements the plan and gains the approval, it will be one of the first global stock exchanges that establish a digital asset exchange independent from a stock exchange.
