Brazilian President Nominated a Blockchain Advocator as Chair of Central Bank
[ChainDD report] February 10 (ChainDD) Roberto Campos Neto, an economist recently nominated by Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro as the country’s governor of central bank, wrote a letter to the Senate and revealed he intended to make the central bank prepared for blockchain and other advanced technologies.
“I participated in studies on blockchain and digital assets. One of the contributions I hope to bring to the Central Bank is to prepare the institution for the future market, in which technologies advance exponentially, generating more rapid transformations, “the letter wrote.
Even receiving nomination, Campos Neto has to obtain approval from the Senate to serve as the governor of the central bank. If the procedure goes smoothly as scheduled, the Senate will approve in late March.
