摘要： This is the first law enforcement action of its kind against a cryptocurrency mixer service.
May 23 (ChainDD) Europol, the European Union’s law enforcement agency, announced on May 22 that the Dutch Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD), in close cooperation with Europol and the authorities in Luxembourg, cracked down on one of the three largest cryptocurrency mixing service Bestmixer.io., and seized six servers in the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
Europol said this is the first law enforcement action of its kind against a cryptocurrency mixer service. Bestmixer offers services for mixing Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Litecoin (LTC). Since starting service in May, 2018, it achieved a turnover of at least $200 million (about 27,000 BTC) in a year and kept clients anonymous state, thus making the authorities unable to track the fund’s original source.
FOID and Europol will analyze IP addresses, details of transactions, BTC addresses and other information collected on Bestmixer’s platform and share intelligence packages with other countries.
