Abstract : Wright has been granted US copyright registration for original Bitcoin whitepaper and most of original Bitcoin code.
May 22 (ChainDD) According to filings shared with crypto news outlet Coingeek, Craig Wright, an Australian who self-proclaims as Bitcoin’s creator under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, has been granted US copyright registration for original Bitcoin whitepaper and most of original Bitcoin code (version 0.1), so the US Copyright Office recognized Wright as author of the whitepaper and code.
ChainDD noted the filings showed the registrations involve “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System” and “Bitcoin”, respectively effective on April 11 and April 13, 2019.
CoinDesk, another crypto media, commented Craig has only filed application for registration to support his identity as the author of Bitcoin’s original code and whitepaper. Registration doesn’t mean ownership or official patent. Copyright process allows anyone to register for preparing lawsuits related to ownership. Computer code and whitepaper can be copyrighted because they are considered as literary work.
